Trump Says He May Meet North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un Again

U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed willingness to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un during his tour of Asian countries. The statement was made while Trump was in South Korea to attend a regional summit and hold meetings with leaders in the region.

Speaking at a press conference, Trump said, “My relationship with the North Korean leader is good, and I am ready to meet him.” He emphasized that he is aware Kim Jong-un is informed of his visit.

Trump also said he hopes China will play an effective role in countering Russia and called on Beijing to assist in reaching an agreement regarding the war in Ukraine. He stated that he is counting on China’s help in negotiations between Washington and Moscow.

In response to recent Chinese military activities near Taiwan, Trump warned that such maneuvers could escalate tensions and create a “dangerous” situation. He characterized China’s actions as an attempt to destabilize regional balance.

According to reports from international media, the possibility of a new Trump-Kim meeting—the first since 2019—has been raised. South Korea’s Minister of Unification also described the prospect as “significant.”

Although Trump has voiced his readiness to meet the North Korean leader, the White House has stated that such a meeting is not currently included in his official itinerary.
