India Summons Iranian Ambassador Over Shooting at Indian-Flagged Ships in Strait of Hormuz

India’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran following reports of gunfire targeting two Indian-flagged vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, expressing its concerns.
According to India Today, the two ships were fired upon while passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Indian officials stated that they are pursuing the matter through diplomatic channels and have demanded clarification regarding the incident.
In response, a spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters declared that the Islamic Republic of Iran had, based on prior agreements and in good faith, allowed a limited number of oil tankers and commercial ships managed passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
The military official added that due to what has been described as “repeated breaches of trust by the United States,” the control process of the strait has reverted to its previous state. The strategic passage is currently under the strict management and supervision of Iran’s armed forces.
