44 Kilometers of TAPI Pipeline Completed in Herat, Construction Progresses Rapidly

The spokesperson for the Taliban’s Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has announced that the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline project in Herat province is progressing with “significant advancement,” with 44 kilometers of pipeline practically completed so far.

Homayoun Afghan stated that technical teams are also prepared to continue the work, and an additional 124 kilometers of the required areas for the project implementation have been fully prepared. According to him, the project’s execution in the remaining sections is advancing according to plan.

He wrote on his official page that the construction of the TAPI pipeline in Herat has made considerable progress and efforts to expedite the process continue.

The TAPI project transports Turkmenistan’s gas through Afghanistan to Pakistan and India and is regarded as one of Afghanistan’s most important economic projects. If completed, it could transform Afghanistan into a regional energy transit corridor. However, experts consistently emphasize the need for financial transparency, ensuring the project’s security, and safeguarding the national interests of Afghanistan within the framework of related agreements.
