84 Afghan Migrants Released from Pakistani Prisons and Returned Home

The Taliban’s Ministry of Migrants and Returnees has announced that 84 Afghan migrants have been released from prisons in Pakistan and returned to the country yesterday through the Spin Boldak border crossing. The ministry confirmed this in a statement published on Thursday, April 16.

According to the provided information, these individuals were detained by Pakistani police due to lacking legal residence documents. No details have been released regarding the duration of their detention or their health conditions.

In recent months, arrests and deportations of Afghan migrants from Pakistan and Iran have increased. Reports indicate that Pakistani police have even pressured some migrants who possess legal residence documents.

While thousands of Afghan families in neighboring countries face concerns over arrest and deportation, the Taliban administration has yet to present a clear and comprehensive plan to provide legal support and sustainable shelter for returnees. This issue has drawn criticism and increased calls for urgent and effective measures to address the migrants’ situation.
