In recent months, traffic accidents have risen across various parts of the country, claiming the lives of dozens. Many residents criticize the authorities for neglecting the poor state of roads, lack of traffic signs and signals, and inadequate oversight, calling these factors major contributors to the high casualty rates.

According to data from the Taliban police command in Badakhshan, 122 traffic incidents were recorded in the province over the past year, resulting in at least 136 fatalities. Ihsanullah Kamgar, spokesperson for the command, previously stated that 175 others were injured during the same period.

Badakhshan, located in the northeast of the country, is known for its mountainous and hazardous roads; nonetheless, residents emphasize that it is the Taliban administration’s responsibility to maintain highways and ensure safe travel. They argue that neglect in this regard has imposed heavy costs on the population.
