Recent Rains Revive Hope for Crop Revival Amid Years of Drought in Afghanistan

Recent rainfall in several provinces of the country has sparked new hope among farmers for the revival of the agricultural sector after years of drought. Village residents say these rains could pave the way for improved harvests and reduce damage caused by water shortages.

Farmers emphasize that timely rains play a decisive role in strengthening crop fields and can increase agricultural production. According to them, many agricultural areas have faced significant declines in yields in recent years due to consecutive droughts.

However, farmers warn that rainfall alone is not sufficient to save agriculture. They urge the Taliban administration and responsible agencies to take advantage of this opportunity to strengthen the rural economy by providing improved seeds, chemical fertilizers, managing water resources, and implementing supportive programs.

The agricultural sector is considered one of the main pillars of livelihood in Afghanistan, with a large portion of the population engaged in farming activities. Experts have continuously stressed that without proper planning and targeted support, the opportunities arising from seasonal rains cannot lead to sustainable improvements in this sector.
