Taliban Authorities Issue Flood Warning for 26 Afghan Provinces

The Meteorology Department of the Taliban’s Ministry of Transport and Aviation has announced that on Friday, April 10, 26 provinces across the country will experience heavy rainfall and a high risk of flash floods.
According to the department’s forecast, the provinces of Faryab, Sar-e Pol, Badghis, Herat, Farah, Ghor, Helmand, Kandahar, Zabul, Uruzgan, Daikundi, Bamyan, Ghazni, Maidan Wardak, Logar, Paktia, Khost, Paktika, Nangarhar, Laghman, Panjshir, Kapisa, Parwan, Baghlan, Samangan, and Takhar are included in this warning.
Rainfall amounts in these provinces are predicted to range between 10 to 40 millimeters. Additionally, there is a possibility of relatively strong winds blowing at speeds of 50 to 75 kilometers per hour in central, western, and southern regions of the country.
The department also noted that alongside the rain, snowfall may occur in high-altitude and cold areas. In previous years, heavy rains and sudden flash floods in some provinces have caused significant financial damages and loss of life.
