Taliban Envoy, Russian Official Discuss Afghan Labor Migration to Moscow

In a recent visit to Moscow, Ghulam Hasan Hasan, the Taliban administration’s ambassador to Russia, met with Zamir Kabulov, the Russian President’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, to discuss a plan for deploying Afghan laborers to Russia.
According to a statement issued by the Taliban Embassy in Moscow on Wednesday, October 30, the two sides also discussed expanding economic cooperation, strengthening bilateral ties, and speeding up the implementation of joint projects.
The statement added that both parties expressed a desire to enhance engagement in various sectors, including facilitating the legal migration of Afghan workers to the Russian Federation.
These discussions come amid a deepening unemployment and economic crisis in Afghanistan, which has worsened since the Taliban took power. With limited job opportunities, many Afghans are seeking employment in neighboring countries and beyond.
