US Contacted Taliban During Border Clashes with Pakistan, Taliban Confirms

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban administration, has confirmed that representatives from the United States reached out to the group during the recent military escalation between the Taliban and the Pakistani army. However, he claimed that the scale and intensity of the conflict were not significant enough to warrant direct involvement by global powers.

In an interview with a local media outlet, Mujahid emphasized that mediation talks hosted by Qatar and several other countries paved the way for an agreement to halt the hostilities. He attributed the end of the fighting to these diplomatic efforts.

His comments come amid reports of deadly clashes along the Taliban-Pakistan border that lasted for nearly a week, resulting in casualties and financial losses on both sides. The violence has also fueled concerns over growing insecurity in the border regions between the two countries.

Despite the negative outcomes of the conflict, the Taliban administration has expressed appreciation to the countries that showed solidarity with the Afghan people during the crisis. Meanwhile, local residents and international observers have criticized the Taliban’s armed actions and lack of responsible governance, citing them as contributing factors to the ongoing instability along the border.
