Taliban’s Amir Khan Muttaqi Calls for Political Solution to End Regional Tensions in Islamabad Talks

Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban administration’s Foreign Minister, has called for an extension of the ceasefire between Iran and the United States, expressing hope that talks in Islamabad could help end what he described as a “dangerous war” in the region. He emphasized that Kabul opposes any escalation of violence and further conflict in the area.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, Muttaqi said that continuing the ceasefire could pave the way for reducing tensions and moving toward political solutions. According to him, Afghanistan desires regional stability and is closely monitoring current developments with concern.
The Taliban’s foreign minister also stated that Afghanistan envisions a bright future free of war and foreign intervention for the countries in the region. He stressed that cooperation and dialogue between nations can replace military conflicts.
In another part of his remarks, Muttaqi described the presence of Iran’s sports team in competitions held in Kabul, despite wartime conditions, as a symbol of the Iranian people’s spirit of resistance and endurance. He saw this as an indication of the continuation of popular interactions among countries in the region.
