US Congressman Officially Requests Mental Health Evaluation of President Trump

A member of the US House of Representatives has formally requested that the White House physician evaluate and report on the mental health and cognitive abilities of Donald Trump, the President of the United States. This request follows Trump’s recent remarks about going to war with Iran.

Democratic Representative Jamie Raskin, in a letter addressed to the White House physician Sean Conley, emphasized that at this sensitive time, American citizens must be assured that the Commander-in-Chief has the full mental capacity to perform his duties. He specifically referred to the state of war that, according to him, was initiated by the president personally without official announcement or congressional approval.

Raskin has set a deadline of April 24 for the White House physician to conduct cognitive tests and provide a detailed report to Congress. He has requested that the results of these examinations be made transparently available to members of Congress.

This move comes amid ongoing discussions among some Democratic lawmakers about impeaching Trump or invoking the 25th Amendment of the US Constitution. Under this amendment, if the president is proven unable or unfit to govern, the process of removing him from office can be initiated.

Critics of Trump argue that his sudden decisions and tone regarding developments in the Middle East raise questions about the stability of his national decision-making. Supporters, however, view these criticisms as politically motivated. So far, the White House has not issued an official response on the matter.
