Educational Radio Programs Suspended in Khost Province by Taliban Order

All educational programs of the FM radio station “Loong” in Khost province have been suspended since yesterday, according to a written order from the Taliban’s Department of Information and Culture. The radio officials state that this decision was made without any clear explanation, and their broadcasts have been completely cut off.
Hayatullah Saber, the director of this radio station, told the media that all of Loong radio’s content was educational and that the station did not broadcast any political or entertainment programs. He added that with the suspension of these programs, a complete gap has emerged in the broadcasts, and the radio staff are now in an uncertain situation.
So far, the Taliban’s Ministry of Information and Culture has not commented on the reason behind this decision. The absence of an official explanation about the suspension of an educational media outlet has raised concerns about increasing restrictions on media activities in the country.
Local radios in many provinces, especially in remote areas, play an important role in providing residents with access to education and public awareness. The suspension of such programs could directly impact people’s access to educational content—a matter that requires transparency and accountability from the relevant authorities.
