Construction Begins on New Section of Kabul-Ghazni Highway

The Public Benefits Directorate under the Taliban administration has announced the commencement of construction on a 22.3-kilometer fourth section of the second phase of the Kabul-Ghazni highway in cooperation with the private sector. Officials from this directorate state that the project includes building two large bridges, 174 culverts, 1,177 meters of gabion retaining walls, and 1,990 meters of concrete roadside channels.

Officials added that currently, asphalt paving, culvert excavation, and the construction of one large bridge in the Seidad area are underway. Seidad is a significant point along this highway, seeing extensive passenger and cargo traffic every year.

According to the provided information, the total length of the Kabul-Ghazni highway is 111 kilometers, and work on other sections of the route had already begun earlier. This highway is a key connection between the capital and the southern provinces, and its completion is expected to improve travel, reduce journey times, and facilitate the transportation of commercial goods.

However, experts consistently emphasize the importance of transparent implementation of infrastructure projects, rigorous technical supervision, and regular public reporting. They stress that the Taliban administration must seriously address these issues to prevent resource wastage and incomplete projects.
