544 Afghan Families Return from Iran and Pakistan, Totaling 3,819 Individuals

The High Commission for Addressing Migrant Issues announced that on Wednesday, 544 Afghan families returned from Iran and Pakistan to their home country. According to the commission, the total number of individuals in these families amounts to 3,819.

Based on published information, more than two thousand of the returnees have been moved to their original residential areas. However, no details were provided regarding permanent housing, provision of basic services, or livelihood opportunities for these families—issues that remain major challenges for returnees.

The commission added that among these families, 463 entered through the Torkham border in Nangarhar province, 46 families through the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar, 49 families from Islam Qala border in Herat, and 32 families via the Puli Abresham border in Nimroz province.

In recent months, the return of Afghan migrants from neighboring countries has increased. Migration experts emphasize that the Taliban administration is responsible for ensuring that returnees have access to shelter, healthcare, education, and sustainable livelihood opportunities to prevent these families from facing displacement and poverty again.
