Kabul Plans 233 Development Projects for Fiscal Year 1405 with Over 9 Billion Afghani Budget

The Directorate of Planning, Policy, Monitoring, and Evaluation of Kabul Municipality has announced that for the fiscal year 1405 (2026-2027), 233 development projects have been designed for the capital city, with more than 9 billion and 123 million Afghanis allocated from the national budget.
Mohammad Qasim Afghan, the head of this directorate, stated in a press conference that these projects include the construction of roads, flyovers and bridges, repairs on the Kabul River, land acquisition, urban beautification, and several other activities.
According to him, these programs have been initiated with the aim of improving urban infrastructure and better organizing various areas of Kabul. However, no further details were provided regarding the precise scheduling of the projects’ implementation or how budget spending will be monitored.
Kabul Municipality operates under Taliban administration, and in recent years, financial transparency and the quality of urban project execution have been subjects of public concern; issues that are expected to receive serious attention in the implementation of the new programs.
