Herat Jewelers Strike Following Deadly Attack in Injil District

A number of jewellers and shopkeepers in the city of Herat closed their shops and went on strike on Saturday in response to a deadly armed attack on civilians in the Injil district. They described this action as a protest against the ongoing insecurity and the failure to ensure the safety of citizens.

The attack occurred on Friday in a Shia-populated area of Injil district, where unidentified armed individuals opened fire on local residents. According to figures provided by the Taliban administration, at least 11 people were killed in the incident.

So far, no individual or group has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, similar incidents in recent years have raised serious concerns about the security situation in certain parts of the country, especially in residential areas of religious minorities.

Residents of Herat say the repetition of such deadly attacks has increased an atmosphere of fear and distrust, emphasizing that the need for serious and transparent measures to protect civilians is felt more than ever.
