Survivors of Herat Attack Urge Taliban to Bring Perpetrators to Justice

Survivors of the armed attack on civilians in Dahmahri Village, Injil District of Herat, have called on the Taliban administration to quickly identify and punish those responsible for the incident. According to local officials, the shooting left 11 dead and 8 wounded.
Residents say the attack occurred after Friday prayers, when a number of people had gathered for remembrance and worship around the shrine of Seyyed Mohammad Agha. Four attackers arrived on two motorcycles and opened fire on the crowd without warning. Witnesses report that among the victims were children, and the assailants made no distinction between civilians.
Hundreds of Herat residents attended mourning ceremonies for the victims and expressed their condolences to the grieving families. Relatives of the deceased stated that the recurrence of such attacks in civilian areas indicates a serious security failure, and the Taliban administration must provide a clear and practical response to protect citizens’ lives.
The governor of Herat has announced that security forces are searching for the four attackers. Sheikh Noor Ahmad Islamjar stated that the individuals will be arrested and brought to justice. However, so far, no individual or group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
In previous years, similar attacks in Afghanistan have been claimed by ISIS, but no claim has been made regarding this latest incident.
