Flash Floods Hit Qala-e-Naw, Causing Extensive Water Damage in Public Streets and Alleys

Heavy rains on Friday evening in Qala-e-Naw, the capital of Badghis province, triggered sudden flash floods and widespread waterlogging in parts of the city, an event local officials say has caused financial damage. Rahimuddin Rahimi, spokesperson for the Badghis governor under the Taliban administration, stated that a large volume of water entered the alleys and public streets, significantly increasing water accumulation in several areas. According to him, there have been no reports of casualties so far, but dozens of shops and residential homes have been damaged, with residents suffering financial losses. Residents of Qala-e-Naw say the recurrence of such incidents raises concerns about the lack of an effective surface water management system and preparedness for natural disasters, a matter that requires serious attention from responsible authorities.
