Romanian President Welcomes Iran-US Ceasefire as Step to Ease Global Economic Pressure
The President of Romania has welcomed the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, expressing appreciation for the role of Pakistan and other regional mediators in reaching the deal.
Nicolae Ciucă posted on the social media platform X that he supports the agreement and emphasized the importance of diplomatic efforts to end hostilities. He thanked Pakistan and other countries involved in the mediation process.
According to him, weeks of conflict have caused energy and food prices to rise, placing significant economic pressure on families and businesses in Europe and around the world. He described the situation as “painful” for citizens.
The Romanian president stressed that it is now time to respect commitments and create conditions for diplomatic negotiations aimed at achieving a lasting solution. He also highlighted the importance of regional stability, including ensuring the security of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, stating that Romania, in coordination with its partners, is ready to support ongoing efforts.
