The nationwide ceremony commemorating the 40th day since the martyrdom of Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, is underway across Tehran and other Iranian cities with widespread participation from various segments of the population. In Tehran, the event started this morning from the Islamic Republic Square in the west of the capital and continues toward Baharestan Square in the city center, where mourning processions have gathered.

Ayatollah Khamenei was martyred following an attack carried out by the United States and Israel on the 9th of Hut 1404 (Persian calendar), alongside several family members and a number of military officials. Following this event, military clashes continued for 40 days, leading to the widespread mobilization of military forces and the presence of their supporters in cities across Iran.

Today, participants began gathering from 9:40 a.m., coinciding with the hour the attack is reported to have occurred, forming family groups and processions that took to the streets and central urban areas to hold the commemoration ceremonies. The march of mourning groups toward the site of the incident will continue until 8 p.m. tonight.

According to the announced schedule, the main part of the field ceremonies will continue on Thursday and Friday. On Thursday, 20th of Hamal, mourning processions will move from Islamic Republic Square toward Keshvar Doost Street, with traffic police implementing special measures to maintain order along the route.

Additionally, on Friday, 21st of Hamal, before the Friday prayer services at mosques in cities across Iran, religious programs including the collective recitation of Surah Al-Fath, the 14th prayer from Sahifa Sajjadiya, and renewal of allegiance ceremonies will be held. In Tehran and Qom, several religious venues will host similar gatherings.
