Kajaki Dam in Helmand Overflows Following Recent Heavy Rainfall

The Taliban’s Department of Information and Culture in Helmand has announced that the Kajaki Dam has fully filled and overflowed due to recent rainfall. Abdul Bari Rashid, head of the department, stated that the rising water levels were caused by the recent downpours, resulting in water spilling over from the dam reservoir. Kajaki Dam is one of the largest dams in the country, located in Helmand province. In addition to managing water resources, it provides electricity to the residents of Helmand and Kandahar provinces. This dam is a critical infrastructure facility in southern Afghanistan, playing a vital role in energy supply and water regulation for the region’s agricultural areas.
