Kabul and Tashkent Discuss Supplying Quality Medicines to Boost Health Sector Investment

A joint meeting of investors from Afghanistan and Uzbekistan focused on importing quality medicines and expanding investment in the health sector was held in Balkh province. During the meeting, both sides discussed ensuring the supply of high-quality medicines and creating sustainable cooperation frameworks in the health sector.
Dr. Najibullah Tawana, Head of Medicines and Food at the Balkh Public Health Directorate, emphasized Afghanistan’s urgent need for quality and standard medicines. He stated that providing such medicines could improve healthcare services and increase public trust in medical centers.
Meanwhile, Abdullah Azizov, Head of Pharmaceutical Industry Development in Uzbekistan, assured that his country is ready to export quality medicines to Afghanistan at reasonable prices. He added that the geographical proximity of the two countries could accelerate the medicine supply process and reduce costs.
Balkh, as one of the key provinces in northern Afghanistan, has always been a crucial point for economic cooperation with Central Asian countries due to its commercial position. Expanding pharmaceutical cooperation between Kabul and Tashkent can meet part of the domestic market’s needs and create opportunities for increased investment in the health sector.
