Taliban’s Foreign Minister Meets Separately with Uzbek and Kyrgyz Officials to Discuss Regional Cooperation

Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban administration’s Foreign Minister, held separate meetings with Babar Usmanov, Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, and Niyazbek Tursunov, Deputy Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan, to discuss expanding bilateral relations and regional cooperation.

According to a statement released by the Taliban Foreign Ministry, these meetings focused on developing political ties, strengthening trade and transit cooperation, and reviewing the regional situation. Both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing economic interactions and facilitating trade movements between Afghanistan and the Central Asian countries.

The talks also covered support for the ongoing Central Asian regional consultation process, with participants stressing the need for joint steps in the future.

These meetings come at a time when the Taliban administration remains unrecognized by many countries worldwide and is seeking to strengthen its political and economic position through expanded regional relations. However, experts believe that the continuation of these ties, alongside improvements in internal conditions, respect for citizens’ rights, and the establishment of inclusive structures, will play a decisive role in the sustainability of regional cooperation with Afghanistan.
