Roof Collapses in Two Afghan Provinces Kill 9 People

Taliban-affiliated media have reported that the roof collapse of several residential houses in Nangarhar and Maidan Wardak provinces has resulted in at least nine deaths and nine injuries.
The Taliban-appointed governor’s office in Nangarhar stated that the collapse of roofs in three houses across the Pachiragam, Khogyani, and Spin Ghar districts has led to six fatalities. No further details regarding the condition of the injured or their treatment have been released.
In a separate incident in Maidan Wardak province, Mohammad Yousuf Asrar, spokesperson for the Taliban police command in the province, said that due to heavy rainfall and the collapse of a residential roof in Jaghatu district, a woman and two children lost their lives.
In recent years, the deterioration of mud-brick houses and the lack of resilient infrastructure against heavy rains in some areas of the country have been cited as major causes of civilian casualties—an issue that calls for serious attention and preventive measures from local authorities.
