Israeli Newspaper Exposes War Lies, Criticizes Hezbollah Disarmament Claims

A Hebrew-language newspaper, in a critical report, has revealed what it calls the “misleading portrayal” by Israeli political and military officials regarding the weakening and disarmament of Hezbollah, highlighting clear contradictions on the matter.

According to Yedioth Ahronoth, while some Israeli political and military circles now acknowledge the inability to fully disarm Hezbollah, over the past year claims have been made that do not reflect the realities on the ground. The newspaper identified the Israeli army as a key partner of the cabinet in creating this false image.

In part of the report, the statements of Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz are critically reflected upon, stating that his remarks were more slogan-like than informed by precise military assessments. The report’s author described these statements as an example of the gap between official claims and the actual situation.

The report also referred to a recently released confidential audio file featuring Major General Rafi Milo, the Northern Front commander, in a meeting with residents of the town of Maskaf Am. In this meeting, he acknowledged a gap between how the operation against Hezbollah ended and previous expectations, stating that over time it became clear that Hezbollah still maintains presence in the targeted areas.

In its conclusion, the newspaper emphasized that if this audio file is played again, it may raise the question of who is truly caught in the “strategic trap” — a claim previously made by Israeli military officials against Hezbollah.

This report comes amid ongoing tensions on the northern front of the occupied territories, with serious doubts emerging regarding the extent of Israel’s military achievements against Hezbollah.
