UAE Condoles with Afghanistan Following Devastating Floods That Killed 51 Over Eight Days

In the wake of heavy rainfall and flooding across several provinces in Afghanistan, the United Arab Emirates has expressed condolences to the families of the victims. According to statistics released by the Taliban administration, at least 51 people have died and 89 others have been injured over the past eight days.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued an official statement offering sympathies to the families of the deceased and the people of Afghanistan, wishing a speedy recovery for those injured. According to the same data, floods in the past 24 hours alone have resulted in three deaths and 16 injuries.
Afghanistan faces the threat of seasonal floods every year with the arrival of spring—a phenomenon that causes significant human and financial losses in many provinces. However, the repeated fatalities and widespread damage highlight the serious challenges facing the Taliban administration in preventive measures and crisis management.
Rural residents, primarily dependent on agriculture and livestock, suffer the most damage due to the lack of standard infrastructure, control dams, and effective warning systems. This situation underscores the urgent need for transparent planning, investment in disaster risk reduction, and a serious commitment to protecting citizens’ lives.
