Russia Expels British Diplomat Over Alleged Espionage Activities

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has announced the revocation of credentials of the Second Secretary of the British Embassy in Moscow due to what it described as “intelligence and sabotage activities.” The diplomat has been ordered to leave Russian territory within two weeks.
According to the statement released, the security agency claims that the diplomat was attempting to access sensitive information related to Russia’s economic sector. Russian officials have stated that these actions are inconsistent with the defined diplomatic mission.
Following this incident, the chargé d’affaires of the British Embassy in Moscow was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry. Russian authorities indicated that the matter concerning the diplomat’s alleged activities was raised during this summons.
As of the time of this report, the British Embassy in Moscow has not officially responded to these accusations. Relations between Moscow and London have been tense in recent years, marked by political and security issues, with previous instances of diplomat expulsions having occurred between the two sides.
