Helmand Governor Warns Pakistan of Tough Action over Insecurity in Afghanistan

Amanuddin Mansoor, the Taliban-appointed governor of Helmand, has issued a warning to Pakistan, stating that the Taliban forces will take harsh measures against those who, according to him, are creating insecurity inside Afghanistan. He even threatened that the hands of those involved in insecurity would be “cut off.” Mansoor claimed that over the past two decades, Taliban forces have fought against “greater enemies” with bare hands compared to Pakistan. He did not provide further details regarding his remarks. These statements come amid rising tensions in recent months between the Taliban administration and Pakistan. Although Pakistani officials have yet to publicly respond, such threats may escalate concerns over growing verbal and security tensions in the region. Experts have repeatedly emphasized that using harsh and threatening language not only fails to reduce insecurity but may negatively affect the security situation and relations between the two sides. Additionally, severe punishments outside the framework of legal principles often trigger widespread condemnation from human rights organizations.
