Reconstruction of Lashkar Gah Airport Nears Completion

The Transport and Aviation Department of the Taliban has announced that the reconstruction work on the perimeter fence, ramp, and runway of Lashkar Gah Airport in Helmand province has reached 97% completion and will soon be operational.
According to the department, the project cost was nearly eight million Afghanis. The aim of the reconstruction is to improve the technical infrastructure of the airport and provide better conditions for aircraft takeoff and landing.
Lashkar Gah Airport is considered one of the key transportation facilities in southern Afghanistan. In recent years, parts of the airport were damaged due to war and a lack of technical maintenance. Residents of Helmand have consistently emphasized the need for the airport’s reconstruction and standard activation to facilitate travel and stimulate economic activities in the region.
Taliban officials have stated that the project will be officially inaugurated in the near future.
