Afghanistan and Uzbekistan Sign $514 Million Cooperation Agreements

During the Tawasul Conference and business meetings between the Afghan and Uzbek private sectors, cooperation memorandums worth $514.8 million were signed across various economic sectors. These agreements were finalized in the presence of Taliban administration officials, local Uzbek authorities, and representatives from the private sectors of both countries.
At the meeting, Nooruddin Azizi, Minister of Industry and Commerce of the Taliban administration, described Afghanistan as a reliable partner in trade and investment and emphasized the availability of investment opportunities in various sectors. He also referred to a preferential tariff agreement between the two countries, which will facilitate easier export of certain goods from Afghanistan to Uzbekistan.
Shukhrat Abdurasulov, Governor of Namangan Province in Uzbekistan, said during the meeting that peace and stability in Afghanistan are vitally important to Uzbekistan and that expanding economic cooperation could strengthen regional relations. Namangan is one of the key provinces in Uzbekistan in terms of industry and trade.
According to these memorandums, cooperation will develop in areas such as establishing a poultry chick factory in Afghanistan, cement and coal trade, exporting dried fruits and vegetables, importing food and fuel, egg-laying poultry production, and sports services.
It is worth noting that expanding regional economic relations holds special significance for Afghanistan under the current conditions; however, the practical success of these agreements depends on establishing a stable economic environment, transparency in procedures, and creating predictable conditions for both domestic and foreign investors.
