Palestine Warns of Forced Eviction Threat to 200 Families in East Jerusalem

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that more than 200 Palestinian families in East Jerusalem face the risk of forced eviction from their homes and has called on the international community to intervene to halt this ongoing process. According to the ministry, these families are at imminent risk of displacement due to legal cases mostly filed by organizations affiliated with settlers in Israeli courts.

This warning comes after 15 Palestinian families were expelled from their homes last week in the Batn al-Hawa area of the Silwan neighborhood in East Jerusalem. Additionally, it has been reported that settlers have seized at least 13 apartments in East Jerusalem in recent days, bringing the total number of units taken over within four days to 15 apartments.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has accused Israeli courts of being used as tools to legitimize “illegal realities.” The ministry’s statement said this process aims to impose demographic changes and forcibly displace the original residents of the city of Jerusalem.

East Jerusalem, occupied by Israel after the 1967 war, is considered by Palestinians as part of the occupied territories and the future capital of a Palestinian state. The eviction of Palestinian families from these areas in recent years has consistently drawn widespread regional and international condemnation.

The Ministry has called on countries and international organizations to take practical and decisive measures to stop the forced evictions and prevent further displacement of Palestinian families.
