Oman’s Foreign Minister Calls Iran’s Attacks a ‘Logical Response’ Amid Rising Regional Tensions

Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr Al-Busaidi, described Iran’s attacks on several US-related targets in the region as the “only logical option” in response to what he called Washington and Tel Aviv’s aggression. These remarks come as tensions in West Asia have escalated to unprecedented levels.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Oman is the only Gulf state among six countries that refused to sign the recent joint statement condemning attacks by Iran and its allies. The statement followed intensified conflicts in the region.
According to the newspaper, Oman’s foreign minister views Iran’s attacks on cities such as Dubai, Manama, and Doha as a reaction to bombings carried out by the United States and Israel. Iranian officials have also stated that their military actions are within the framework of “legitimate defense.”
Reports published in Iranian media claim that in the attacks on Iranian territory on 28 February 2026, several senior officials and civilians lost their lives. It is also alleged that a bombing at a school in Minab killed more than 170 students. These events have triggered widespread reactions within Iran.
Following these developments, Iran has targeted some US-linked bases in the region as well as targets in Israel and imposed restrictions on the passage of vessels affiliated with the conflicting parties through the Strait of Hormuz. The Strait of Hormuz is a crucial global energy transit route, and any disruption there could impact global markets.
Meanwhile, groups in Iraq and Lebanon have declared their support for Iran, and security conditions in several regional areas remain fragile. The increase in hostilities and restricted passage of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz have heightened concerns about a broader global energy crisis.
