Mine Explosion in Ghazni Kills Two Children and Injures Two Others

A mine explosion in Khogyani district of Ghazni province has resulted in the deaths of two children and injuries to two others. The Taliban security command in Ghazni announced that the incident occurred on Friday, March 26, in the village of Ali Khan Khil.

According to the command, the injured children were transferred to Ghazni provincial hospital for treatment. No further details about their medical condition have been provided.

The Taliban security command did not specify the exact cause of the explosion, stating only that it was due to the children’s carelessness. However, landmines and unexploded ordnance left over from years of war continue to pose a serious threat to civilians, especially children.

Decades of conflict have left parts of the country contaminated with landmines and explosive remnants, a problem that requires organized planning and effective measures for clearance. According to United Nations statistics, 3.3 million people in Afghanistan live within one kilometer of mine-contaminated areas, raising serious concerns about civilian safety.
