Official Ceremony Marks Start of 1405 School Year in Bagrami, Kabul

The Kabul Provincial Education Directorate announced that the official ceremony to mark the beginning of the 1405 school year was held on Thursday, 6 Hamal, at 9 a.m. in the Bagrami district of Kabul province. The event was attended by several Taliban administration officials, heads of relevant departments, religious scholars, teachers, and guests.
According to local officials, the program was officially launched to inaugurate the new academic year. So far, no further details about the new year’s educational programs or potential changes to the curriculum or school structure have been released by the Taliban administration.
The announcement of the school year’s start comes amid ongoing restrictions on the education of girls above the sixth grade, which remains a serious concern for families and educational organizations across the country. Despite repeated domestic and international calls to reopen girls’ schools, the Taliban administration has yet to take practical steps in this regard.
Afghanistan’s education system has faced extensive challenges in recent years, including a lack of educational resources, economic hardships faced by families, and restrictions imposed by the Taliban administration—issues that have cast uncertainty over the educational future of millions of students, especially girls.
