Russia Warns of Increasing Threat from ISIS and Al-Qaeda

Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, announced that threats posed by international terrorist and extremist organizations, especially ISIS and Al-Qaeda, are on the rise. She stated that the expansion of these groups’ activities has created new security concerns both in the region and beyond.
Referring to the attack two years ago on the Crocus Hall in Moscow, Zakharova highlighted that the risk of weapons and ammunition being transferred from conflict zones into the hands of terrorists has increased. According to her, this trend could lead to the spread of insecurity to neighboring countries as well.
The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson also confirmed that four Tajikistani citizens, arrested in connection with the Crocus Hall attack, have been sentenced to life imprisonment. This attack previously triggered widespread security responses across Russia.
