Significant Rise in Visitors to Herat’s Historic Sites During Eid

The Department of Information and Culture in Herat has announced that thousands of families visited the province’s historic and scenic sites during the Eid holidays. According to the department, approximately three thousand people visited the Ikhtiyaron al-Din Fortress alone, marking a notable increase compared to regular days.
Taliban officials in Herat say that the recent surge in visitors is unprecedented. They consider this enthusiasm a sign of the citizens’ interest in Herat’s historical and cultural heritage.
Mohammad Yousuf Saeedi, spokesperson for the Taliban administration in Herat, stated that special security measures were implemented during Eid, which allowed people to visit these sites with “peace of mind.”
Herat is regarded as one of Afghanistan’s historically significant provinces, and the Ikhtiyaron al-Din Fortress is among its most prominent ancient structures, attracting domestic visitors from various parts of the country every year.
