Pakistan Urges Russia to Mediate in Tensions with Taliban Administration

Russia’s Izvestia newspaper has reported that Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s ambassador to Moscow, has requested Russian officials to mediate in resolving tensions between Islamabad and the Taliban administration. According to him, this request aims to reduce tensions and reach a political solution.
Tirmizi added that Pakistan, considering proposals presented by Russia, China, Qatar, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia, has expressed willingness to establish a ceasefire. He emphasized that Islamabad welcomes any initiative that can help diminish the conflicts.
In recent months, relations between Pakistan and the Taliban administration have been marked by tensions, casting a shadow over the region’s security and political situation. Some experts believe that continuing this status quo requires a transparent and responsible approach from the Taliban administration regarding regional commitments.
In recent years, Russia has sought to play a mediating role in several regional issues, but it remains unclear what response Moscow has given to Pakistan’s official request so far.
