Chemical Fertilizer Prices Reach Highest Level Since September 2022 Amid Middle East Conflict

The global prices of chemical fertilizers have risen to their highest level since September 2022, coinciding with the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, raising concerns about its impact on the food market.
According to reports, the price of this product has increased by 44 percent since the outbreak of the war in the Middle East. Market analysts attribute this surge primarily to disruptions in transportation routes and fears of reduced supply.
Approximately one-third of the world’s chemical fertilizer supply passes through the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic passage where any tension or restriction could disrupt global supply chains.
If this trend continues, it could lead to further increases in agricultural production costs in the coming weeks and months, ultimately intensifying inflationary pressures on food prices in various countries; a development regarded as particularly concerning for vulnerable economies, including those reliant on food imports.
