Trump Calls NATO a ‘Paper Tiger’ Without US Amid European Hesitation on Hormuz Strait Conflict

Donald Trump, President of the United States, described NATO as a ‘paper tiger’ without America in response to the reluctance of several European countries to join a potential conflict in the Strait of Hormuz. He sharply criticized his European allies’ stance.
Trump stated that members of the military alliance have shown no willingness to go to war with Iran. Addressing the European countries, he added: “You are cowards, and we will remember this.”
These remarks come as many countries worldwide, especially in Europe, have openly opposed any military intervention in the Strait of Hormuz. This strait is one of the world’s most important energy transit routes, and any tensions there could impact global oil markets.
Earlier, Trump had called on European countries to cooperate with Washington to reduce oil prices affected by restrictions imposed on this strategic passage; however, the request was met with limited enthusiasm and cautious responses.
