Pashtun Tahafuz Movement Condemns Pakistani Airstrikes, Calls for Action on Civilian Rights Violations

Manzoor Pashteen, leader of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement, strongly condemned the Pakistani military’s airstrikes on both sides of the Durand Line in an audio message on Friday marking Eid al-Fitr, stating that these attacks have caused suffering and grief among the people.

Referring to the month of Ramadan, he said that while Muslims believe “devils are chained during this month,” the Pakistani military rulers have continued their attacks. Pashteen claimed that this Ramadan was spent in fear and mourning for the residents on both sides of the Durand Line.

The Pashtun Tahafuz Movement leader accused the Pakistani military of conducting airstrikes across various parts on both sides of the Durand Line during Ramadan. The Durand Line is a border which Afghanistan does not recognize and has long been a source of tension between the two sides.

He further announced that members of the movement plan to hold a protest gathering on the 24th of this month outside the United Nations office in Geneva to bring what they call “the violation of civilian rights” to the attention of international organizations.

The Pashtun Tahafuz Movement is a civil protest movement in Pakistan that has repeatedly criticized the country’s security and military policies in Pashtun areas, demanding accountability from the responsible institutions.
