Growth of Beekeeping Farms Hindered by Lack of Standard Processing Facilities

The Department of Agriculture and Livestock has announced an increase in beekeeping and honey production in the country; however, the absence of standardized processing and packaging systems has impeded the growth of this sector.
Officials from the department say that despite the expansion of beekeeping farms in several provinces, producers still lack access to the necessary machinery and equipment for standardized honey processing. According to them, this shortage has prevented some domestic products from entering major markets in a compliant manner.
The Department of Agriculture and Livestock has urged the Taliban administration to provide practical support to producers by supplying the needed equipment. The agency emphasizes that technical assistance and the provision of modern tools can help improve quality, enhance competitiveness, and foster greater growth in this industry.
Agricultural experts believe that beekeeping is an important economic sector in rural areas and, with proper management and the establishment of standards, it could play a significant role in creating jobs and strengthening the local economy.
