Taliban Spokesman Rules Out Closing Pakistan Embassy, Vows Revenge Against Military Attacks

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban administration, stated that they have no intention of closing the Pakistan embassy in Kabul but will retaliate against what he called “criminal Pakistani military.” In an interview with Tolo News, he emphasized that the Pakistan embassy is separate from the country’s military institutions.

According to Mujahid, the Pakistani diplomatic mission in Kabul is not responsible for Islamabad’s military decisions and actions, and therefore will not be targeted in retaliatory measures. He did not provide details on how the “revenge” would be carried out.

This position comes after recent Pakistani airstrikes on parts of Kabul. Previously, the Taliban’s deputy spokesperson had warned that closing the Pakistan embassy could be an option if the attacks continued.

Verbal tensions between Kabul and Islamabad have escalated amid fluctuating relations in recent months. Continued statements of this nature have raised concerns about the security and diplomatic consequences for the people of both countries.
