Peshawar High Court Orders Release on Bail of 68 Afghan Citizens Including Minors and POC Card Holders

The Peshawar High Court has ordered the release on bail of 68 Afghan citizens who were in detention. Among them are several children under the age of 18 as well as holders of the Pakistan Origin Card (POC).
These individuals submitted formal petitions to the court requesting their release on bail. After reviewing the petitions and the supporting documents, the court accepted their requests and issued orders for the release of all detainees.
The presence of children among the detainees drew the court’s attention to the humanitarian dimensions of the case. Additionally, some of the individuals held the Pakistan Origin Card, a document issued to people with familial or historical ties to Pakistan, which provides certain residency and legal privileges to its holders.
Legal experts say that the inclusion of POC card holders among the detainees highlights the complex legal status of some Afghan citizens in Pakistan, particularly those holding documents related to residency or familial connections to the country.
It is reported that the recent ruling by the Peshawar High Court may also influence similar cases involving Afghan citizens in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and other regions of Pakistan.
