Paris Conference Addresses Afghan Women’s Rights and Support for Resistance Against Taliban

Ali Meisam Nazari, head of foreign relations for the National Resistance Front, announced the holding of a conference in Paris focused on the situation of Afghan women and ways to support the resistance against Taliban rule. According to him, the meeting took place on Monday, March 15, with the participation of French officials, civil society representatives, and members of the Afghan diaspora. Ahmad Massoud, leader of the National Resistance Front, also delivered a speech.
Nazari stated that the event was organized into two separate panels. The first panel discussed the conditions of women in Afghanistan and the restrictions imposed on their education, employment, and social presence since the Taliban’s return to power. The second panel examined strategies for armed, political, and civil resistance against the Taliban administration.
Based on a note shared by the head of foreign relations of the National Resistance Front on the social media platform X on Wednesday, the conference placed special emphasis on “resistance and the country’s future.” He did not provide further details regarding any practical outcomes from these discussions.
Ahmad Massoud, who has led the military opposition against the Taliban for over four years, has repeatedly stressed the necessity of militarily defeating the Taliban in international forums. He has also stated in previous events held in European countries that he will continue fighting against the Taliban administration.
The National Resistance Front has, during this period, reported sporadic attacks against Taliban forces and claimed to have killed a number of their members. The Taliban administration has not yet issued an official response to the news of this Paris conference.
