EU Delegation Sends Eid al-Fitr Greetings to the People of Afghanistan

The European Union Delegation to Afghanistan has extended its Eid al-Fitr greetings to the people of the country, wishing Afghan families peace, tranquility, and happiness. On the evening of Wednesday, March 17, the delegation posted on the social media platform X, congratulating every Afghan citizen on the occasion of the sighting of the Shawwal moon and the end of the holy month of Ramadan. The EU message described this occasion as a potential beginning of a new season of light and hope for all.

The European Union also emphasized that it stands “today and every day” with the people of Afghanistan and will continue its support. This message comes as many residents of the country face severe economic hardships and broad restrictions.

Since the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan, poverty and unemployment have risen sharply, leaving many families unable to properly celebrate religious occasions such as Eid al-Fitr. International organizations have repeatedly stressed the need to continue humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, a matter deemed vital for millions across the country.
