Egypt and Qatar Welcome Eid Ceasefire Between Pakistan and Taliban Administration

Egypt and Qatar have welcomed the announcement of a temporary ceasefire between Pakistan and the Taliban administration on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, describing it as a positive step towards reducing recent tensions between the two sides. These tensions have raised concerns about the safety of civilians in border areas in recent weeks.

International media reported on Thursday, March 18, that Cairo considers this move as creating a suitable environment to resume efforts aimed at reducing hostilities. Egyptian officials emphasized that continuing such measures could help build trust between the parties and pave the way for achieving a permanent ceasefire.

According to Egypt, the continuation of conflicts not only puts civilian lives at risk but also makes regional stability vulnerable. Therefore, the country has called for effective use of this opportunity to ease tensions.

Meanwhile, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the temporary ceasefire could create a calmer atmosphere for dialogue. Doha expressed hope that this step will lead to a lasting agreement that safeguards civilians and strengthens security and stability in the region.

Qatar also welcomed the positive response from Pakistan and the Taliban administration to the ceasefire requests made by Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, emphasizing that dialogue and peaceful solutions are the most effective ways to resolve disputes.

Doha added that it will continue its diplomatic efforts, in cooperation with regional and international partners, to reduce tensions and prevent escalation of the crisis—a matter of special importance given the sensitivity of the situation in the region.
