Western Countries Warn of Severe Consequences if Israel Launches Ground Offensive in Lebanon

Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom issued a joint statement warning of the possibility of an extensive Israeli ground invasion of Lebanon, describing it as having “very severe” consequences. The countries emphasized that the escalation of conflicts could plunge the region into a prolonged crisis.
The statement noted that any large-scale Israeli ground operation on Lebanese soil could exacerbate instability and trigger a sustained regional conflict. The countries urged all parties involved to refrain from provocative actions.
The signatories also called on Israeli and Lebanese sides to engage in dialogue aimed at achieving a durable political solution. However, the statement did not mention civilian casualties or damages caused by previous Israeli attacks.
In recent years, Lebanon has repeatedly witnessed military tensions along its southern borders—areas constantly exposed to sporadic exchanges of fire and clashes. Any expansion of military operations could further undermine the country’s already fragile stability.
