UN Special Rapporteur Calls for De-escalation Amid Civilian Casualties in Kabul Airstrikes

Richard Bennett, the United Nations Special Rapporteur for Afghanistan, expressed deep concern over civilian casualties resulting from Pakistani airstrikes on Kabul. He stated that these events have put civilian lives at serious risk.
On the evening of Monday, March 15, Bennett wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) page that these attacks not only claim civilian lives but also threaten the security of critical facilities, including hospitals—centers that must be protected under all circumstances.
He emphasized that all parties should take measures to reduce tensions and exercise utmost restraint to prevent further violence and harm to civilians.
In recent months, concerns have grown over the security situation and the protection of civilians in Afghanistan, highlighting the ongoing responsibility to safeguard lives and ensure the safety of civilian areas.
