The UK Maritime Trade Operations office has reported that an oil tanker off the coast of Oman in the Persian Gulf was struck by an unidentified projectile. According to the agency, there have been no casualties as a result of the incident.

On Tuesday, the office posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account that following the projectile impact, the oil tanker stopped and is currently at anchor. Based on the information provided, the crew’s condition is reported to be safe.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations office also added that the incident caused superficial damage to the oil tanker’s hull but no serious harm. Further details about the type of projectile and the potential perpetrator of the attack have not yet been released.

The coast of Oman lies along one of the region’s critical energy transport routes, and any security incident in these waters could affect commercial shipping traffic. However, responsible authorities have yet to provide additional explanations regarding the possible consequences of this event.
