Pakistan Claims Kabul Attacks Targeted Only Military and Terrorist Sites

Pakistan’s Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting stated that the attacks carried out on the night of March 16, 2026, in Kabul and Nangarhar were “precise, deliberate, and professional,” targeting only military infrastructures and what he described as “terrorist objectives.” Ataullah Tarar, responding officially from Islamabad, said that no hospitals, rehabilitation centers, or other civilian facilities were targeted in these operations. According to him, the targets included ammunition depots, technical equipment, and other installations linked to activities Pakistan deems hostile.

These remarks come amid concerns following attacks in two key Afghan provinces, including Kabul, the capital. So far, the Taliban administration has not released independent details about the exact nature of the targets or the extent of potential damage.

Security experts have repeatedly warned about the escalation of cross-border tensions and their impact on the security situation for residents. The continuation of such incidents may raise questions about the Taliban administration’s ability to ensure nationwide security and prevent the use of Afghan territory against neighboring countries.
